Rotary Pressure Filter
A Rotary Pressure Filter is a continuously operating filter for pressure filtration, which allows gas-tight cake handling in several separate process steps. The filter consists of a cylindrical drum that rotates in a horizontal position inside a pressure-tight housing. The drum is divided into segments, each with a filter cloth or a filter mesh. The suspension is fed into the drum through a feed pipe and is distributed over the whole length of the drum. As the drum rotates, the liquid phase passes through the filter medium and is discharged as filtrate. The solid phase forms a cake on the surface of the filter medium, which can be further treated in different ways depending on the application.

Rotary pressure filter working principle
The pressurized suspension enters the filter chamber 1 through the feed pipe, and is filtered with the pressure difference as the driving force in the filter unit chamber immersed in it. The filter cake accumulates on the surface of the filter insert, and the filtrate passes through the filter screen. The discharge pipe 2 is discharged through the filtrate chamber in the distribution head;
After filtration, the filter unit room with the filter cake enters the filter cake washing sealed chamber 3 sequentially with the clockwise rotation of the inner drum, and the filter cake is washed with the washing liquid, and the washing liquid single-phase replaces the filtrate in the filter cake, washing The final washing liquid is discharged through the washing liquid chamber in the distribution head through the drain pipe 4;
The filter unit room containing the washed filter cake enters the filter cake drying sealed chamber 5 sequentially with the rotation of the inner drum, and the filter cake is dried by hot air passing through the filter cake, and the hot and humid gas passing through the filter cake passes through The exhaust pipe 6 is discharged through the dry gas chamber in the distribution head;
The filter unit room containing the dried filter cake enters the filter cake unloading sealed chamber 7 sequentially with the rotation of the inner drum, and the dried filter cake is discharged into the hopper through the back blowing or scraper device. It is blown into the chamber by the dry air from the distribution head and enters the inside of the filter;
The empty filter unit room after unloading the dry filter cake enters the filter screen flushing sealed chamber 8 sequentially with the rotation of the inner drum, and the residual filter cake residue blocked in the filter screen pores is washed away with the flushing liquid, and the flushing liquid is recovered As a washing liquid in the washing stage;
With the rotation of the inner drum, the cleaned filter unit chamber enters the filter sealing chamber 1 again, and starts their next cycle of material liquid filtration, filter cake washing, filter cake drying, filter cake discharge and filter screen flushing .
In short, as far as the whole filter is concerned, the filter is working continuously and in different sealed chambers with different functions; and as far as each filter unit chamber that rotates with the inner drum is concerned, it is Periodically and sequentially enter different functional sealed chambers to complete different functions.
Features of Rotary Pressure Filter
– High process versatility
The filter can perform various operations during one drum revolution, such as single- or multi-stage cake washing, displacement washing, counter-current washing, closed-cycle washing, reslurrying, solvent exchange, steaming, extraction and mechanical or thermal cake dewatering. All these operations take place in separate segment zones inside the filter, which allows filtrates and other fluids to be drained off separately. This also enables optimal process control and product quality.
– Continuous operation
Rotary pressure filters operate continuously, which means that they can process large volumes of material quickly and efficiently. Both filtrate and solids cake discharged automatically, which means that there is no need for manual intervention.
– High solids loading
Rotary pressure filters can handle high solids loadings, which means that they can be used to filter slurries with a high concentration of solids.
– Gas-tight operation
The filter can be integrated into a production process without any risk of contamination or leakage. This makes it suitable for applications that require strict safety or hygiene standards, such as in the pharmaceutical or food industries.
– Variable process pressures and temperatures
The filter can operate at pressures up to 7 bar (g) and temperatures from -20°C to 160°C. The pressure is generated hydraulically by feeding suspension or wash liquids rather than pneumatically by gas layers. This allows for better adjustment of each process step according to the specific requirements.
– Easy cleaning
Rotary pressure filters are easy to clean, which helps to prevent contamination and ensures that the filter remains in good working order.
Typical applications
Rotary Pressure Filter can be used for a wide range of applications in different industries, such as bulk chemicals, fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food processing. Some examples of products that can be filtered and treated with a Rotary Pressure Filter are:
Mining
Rotary pressure filters are used to filter slurries from mining operations. This helps to remove impurities from the slurry, which can then be processed further.
Pharmaceuticals
These are the substances that have a therapeutic effect in medicines. The filter can ensure high purity and yield by performing extraction, washing and drying steps.
Chemical
Rotary pressure filters are used to filter slurries from chemical processing plants. This helps to remove impurities from the slurry, which can then be used in downstream processes.
Food and beverage
Rotary pressure filters are used to filter slurries from food and beverage processing plants. This helps to remove impurities from the slurry, which can then be safely consumed.
Water treatment
Rotary pressure filters are used to filter slurries from water treatment plants. This helps to remove impurities from the water, which can then be used for drinking or other purposes.
